Tailings Dewatering
Tailings are a mixture of water and fine mineral particles, they are produced from the mill in slurry form. The mine tailings slurry mixture often contains close to 75% water and about 10 to 20 percent of the economic minerals that could not be recovered from the ore. The water is very important in mining process, in order to recover more water, and improve dry stacking ability, the vacuum disc filters are installed in the mineral processing line, used for dewatering fine and ultra-fine coal and tailings, and assist in the recovery of water for reuse within the plant while lowering overall water consumption.
Basic Principle
Disc filters are equipments used for liquid-solid separation, tailings slurry mixture flow in the feed basin, by a vacuum pump different pressure values is created in the field of absorption on either side of the filter medium in this way, the solid material will remain on the filter material, and enters the drying area, then transmitted to the conveyor belt through the channel with the help of scraper knives. Under this environment, the water is continuously removed from the product and flow into drain pipes.
