Recently, our team completed a high-precision engineering project: the design and supply of a 316L Stainless Steel Wire Mesh Demister for a large-scale boiler energy-saving renovation.

The Challenge: Large-Scale Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD)

The client required a high-efficiency mist elimination solution for an 8.2m diameter absorption tower. The goal was to reduce moisture carryover in the flue gas to meet stringent environmental standards while ensuring long-term durability against corrosive chemical bypass.

 

To meet the project requirements, our engineers selected the SP (Standard) Type wire mesh configuration. The high porosity and surface area ensure minimal pressure drop with maximum droplet capture.

Performance & Efficiency Excellence

This 316L mesh demister pad was engineered for the critical exit point of the flue gas. It serves as the final barrier to separate entrained droplets from the gas stream.

Removal Efficiency: Achieved 99% efficiency for liquid particles with a grain size >5μm.

Emission Control: The mist content in the outlet flue gas is maintained at ≤5mg/Nm³ (dry basis), ensuring the plant stays well within green emission limits.

Reliability: The use of Grade 316L for both the mesh and the upper/lower support grids provides superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking and pitting in desulfurization environments.

Installation: DN800 Manhole Compatibility

Despite the massive 8.2m diameter, the entire demister was designed to be installed through a DN800 manhole.

This modularity significantly reduced downtime during the boiler's technical transformation phase.
